TOM PETTY AND THE HEARTBREAKERS
HYPNOTIC EYE

Hypnotic Eye is built with heart and steel; the sound of a consummate roots rock band revisting their own roots, which became the highest charting release in Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ storied career. Gnarly opener “American Dream Plan B” stomps and snarks until an acoustic reprieve in the bridge. “Fault Lines” swings, zaps and howls as if an electrified Inspector Gadget theme was belted out of some train riding in the midwest. The closer is the imaginative “Shadow People,” complete with a brooding guitar riff and mysterious atmosphere until daylight begins to peek out at the tail end. These are tightly woven compositions blending rock, fuzz, blues, and grit which together, make for a strong album by seasoned professionals and a satisfying studio send-off from the band.
